Legislation - SB 149
After passing in the state Senate Judiciary
Committee last week and in the state Senate Finance Committee on Monday,
Senate Bill 149 was passed in the West Virginia Senate unanimously
today. We expect SB 149 to soon be assigned to the state House
Judiciary Committee for its consideration.

House Committee's Consider two NRA Back Bills
Tomorrow
The state House Judiciary Committee will consider Senate Bill 353, a background reform bill,
at 9:00 a.m. in Room 410M of the State Capitol. This is expected to be the last committee hearing before
this legislation makes its way to the House of Delegates for a floor vote.

JEFFERSON DELEGATES VOTED AGAINST TRANSPARENCY IN GOVERNMENT TODAY 1-18-12
Delegates John Doyle and Tiffany Lawrence both voted against Amendment I-17 to HB 2402, allowing more access to
non-confidential government records.
Berkeley County Delegates Overington, Miller,
Householder, Kump, Duke, and Cowles all voted for the transparency amendment. The amendment failed 35
yeas to 59 nays with 5 members of
the Legislature not voting. Makes you wonder what exactly Doyle and Lawrence are voting to hide?

HB2419 - HEALTHCARE FREEDOM ACT
The people have the right to enter into private contracts with health care providers for health care
services and to purchase private health care coverage. The Legislature may not require any person to participate
in any health care system or plan, nor may it impose a penalty or fine, of any type, for choosing to obtain or decline
health care coverage or for participation in any particular health care system or plan.
HB2705 - EXEMPTING WV FROM FEDERAL FIRE ARM REGULATIONS UNDER THE COMMERCE CLAUSE
HB 2705 would exempt West Virginia from federal regulation (under the Commerce Clause
of the Constitution of the United States) of firearms, firearms accessories, or firearm ammunition manufactured and retained in West Virginia. All firearms regulation
under the above circumstances would be under West Virginia law, as guaranteed by the 2nd and 10th amendments of the United States Constitution.
HB2915 - REPEALING HB103 ALTERNATIVE AND RENEWABLE ENERGY PROTFOLIO ACT
In essence it IS the entire bill. Everything that does anything.
