WHAT AND WHO IS THE TEA PARTY!
Oddly, the TEA Party has nothing to do with tea, except in historical reference to the early colonists throwing tea into the Boston Harbor in defiance of high taxes imposed by the King of England...and it is not a political party, in the sense of Republican or Democrats. Nor is it a group of any unemployed white males, or potentially violent extremists, or right wing crazies that many in the media and politics have branded us.

We are a movement. A movement of like-minded people from all walks of life - working people of all ages, all races, and all religions. We are a cross section of this great country who still believe in the American Dream - that any citizen, regardless of their birth, their socio-economic status, or family circumstance, has the opportunity to work hard and achieve success. Not guaranteed success - just the opportunity, and the right to keep the fruits of that success should we achieve it.

We are Americans who believe in the principal of self government. That we alone can choose what is best for ourselves. That we reserve the right to fail or succeed on our own terms, learn from our own mistakes, to raise our children as we see fit, and to follow whatever religion that we desire. And that we have the right to defend ourselves and our homes from aggression.

We believe in personal responsibility. We have the responsibility to work, to pull our own weight, to provide for ourselves and our family. We do not want handouts from the government, nor want our hard earned tax dollars wasted on a welfare state that destroys families and robs people of their motivation to work. We are generous and giving, but believe that our charity is best chosen by ourselves, not the government.

We are NOT Anarchists. On the contrary, we believe in the necessity of a Government - one that is limited in scope and power, deriving its just power from the people it governs, as defined by our Constitution. We are Americans who believe that the purpose of the Government is to protect our Liberty and Freedom, not trample them. We will hold our elected leaders accountable for their actions, be they Democrats or Republicans, when those actions violate our Constitution, drive our nation into debt, take away our freedoms, or destroy our free market system.

If these are things you believe in, then join us. Link arms with your fellow Americans and stand firm against those who would rather see us “fade away” so that they may continue unopposed in their “fundamental transformation” of America.
